Tee Up Indoor Golf : Where Great Golf Begins

A look inside one of the Treasure Valley's premier game improvement facilities—and why it's much more than just another golf simulator.

Indoor golf is changing in Idaho.

Over the past couple of weeks I've had the opportunity to visit two of Meridian's newest indoor golf facilities, and while both are built around technology, they each have a very different vision.

When Doug invited me out to Tee Up Indoor Golf, I expected another simulator facility.

What I found was a place completely focused on one thing...

Helping golfers get better.

The First Thing You See

The first thing that caught my attention wasn't the simulator bays.

It was the massive PuttView putting green sitting right in the front entry.

You literally walk through the front door and it's the first thing you see.

If you've never experienced PuttView, it's one of those technologies you have to see in person. The system projects the break, slope, and ideal putting line directly onto the green while giving instant feedback on every putt you hit.

We've now seen PuttView in both of our recent facility tours, and I don't think that's a coincidence.

It's changing the way golfers practice.

Then You Turn the Corner...

Have you ever watched TGL on TV?

Picture yourself walking into the SoFi Center.

Right in front of you is a massive putting green. Beyond it is an enormous screen stretching almost floor to ceiling. The lights, the technology, the atmosphere... everything makes you feel like you're about to tee it up in one of the most advanced golf facilities in the world.

Now imagine walking over to the hitting mat, setting your ball down, looking up at that giant screen, and seeing one of the TGL courses waiting for you.

That's exactly how I felt the first time I turned the corner inside Tee Up.

For just a second, I forgot I was standing in Meridian, Idaho.

The simulator bays are unlike anything I've seen before. Every bay features a custom 12-foot impact screen paired with dual 55-inch displays that put all of your launch monitor data, club data, and ball flight information right in front of you. You never have to look away from the shot to see exactly what happened.

Tee Up uses Uneekor launch monitors paired with GSPro, and that's a combination I think a lot of Idaho golfers are going to appreciate. Uneekor delivers incredibly detailed swing and ball data, while GSPro gives you access to one of the largest libraries of golf courses available, including many of the courses we play right here in Idaho.

And yes... if you're a TGL fan, you can even play the TGL courses on GSPro.

Standing there, I honestly forgot I was inside an indoor golf facility.

It felt like I had stepped onto the set of a TGL match.

Doug and Bob told me they plan to host GSPro leagues, tournaments, and private events. Whether you're organizing a corporate outing, maybe a Good Hang Golf Club event, or just trying to keep your regular foursome together through the winter, they have everything in place to make it happen.

And standing there looking at those bays...

I could already picture a group of buddies teeing it up at BanBury one night and Pebble Beach the next.

It's Not About Simulators

One thing Doug and Bob said that really stuck with me was their "why."

They told me Tee Up originally started as another golf simulator business.

Then they realized that's not what they wanted to be.

They wanted to become a game improvement facility.

Honestly...

You can feel that the second you walk inside.

Everything revolves around helping golfers improve.

Along with PuttView, Tee Up also uses SportsBox 3D Golf, giving golfers a three-dimensional look at their swing and helping them understand movement in ways traditional video simply can't.

Those two technologies alone completely change the way golfers practice.

Coaching Still Matters

Technology is great.

But technology without coaching only gets you so far.

That's where Chris Middleton comes in.

Having a full-time teaching professional on staff reinforces everything Doug and Bob talked about.

The technology supports the instruction.

The instruction drives the improvement.

That's a much different philosophy than simply renting simulator time.

Who's Playing Golf at 1:00 in the Morning?

I'll be honest...

Every time I drive by one of these 24-hour indoor golf facilities, I ask myself the same question.

Who is actually playing golf at one o'clock in the morning?

So I asked Bob.

Without missing a beat, he smiled and said...

"Second shift."

It hit me immediately.

Not everyone works a traditional 9-to-5 job.

Think about nurses, firefighters, police officers, micron workers, mechanics, hospital staff, and everyone else working evenings or overnight. When they get off work, every golf course in the Treasure Valley is closed.

For a lot of golfers, midnight might be the only chance they have to work on their game.

I had honestly never looked at it that way.

The 24-hour access isn't just a marketing feature.

For a lot of people, it's an opportunity they wouldn't have otherwise.

That conversation completely changed how I look at facilities like Tee Up.

Great Golf Begins Here

As I was driving home, I kept thinking about Tee Up's tagline...

"Great Golf Begins Here."

After spending a few hours with Doug and Bob, I don't think they're talking about a golf simulator.

They're talking about creating a place where golfers can build better habits, practice with purpose, and actually improve.

That philosophy even carries over into their membership structure.

Growing the Game

Another thing that immediately connected with me was their passion for junior golf.

Doug, Bob, and Chris all talked about the importance of introducing more kids to the game and creating opportunities for them to improve.

They're launching Tee Up Kids, a junior development program designed to help young golfers build their skills in a fun and structured environment.

That's something we can always get behind here at 208.Golf.

Tee Up is also one of only two independently owned indoor golf facilities in the Treasure Valley, and it's always great seeing local business owners investing back into Idaho golf.

Final Thoughts

Walking away from Tee Up, I kept thinking about something Doug said.

"We're not trying to be another simulator business."

After spending a few hours there...

I believe him.

Every decision they've made—from the oversized bays and coaching staff to PuttView, SportsBox 3D Golf, Uneekor, and GSPro—points back to one goal.

Helping golfers improve.

The more facilities I visit, the more convinced I become that Idaho golf is changing.

Every owner I've met has a different vision, but they all share one goal.

Help more people play better golf.

That's something all of us can get behind.

My Take

If you're looking for a place to simply hit golf balls indoors, Tee Up can certainly do that.

If you're looking for a place that's intentionally built to help you improve your game, I think that's where Tee Up separates itself.

The technology is impressive.

The facility is first class.

But after spending an afternoon with Doug, Bob, and Chris, it's clear the real product isn't simulator time.

It's helping golfers become better golfers.

That's a mission I can get behind.
